Project management update
What has been happening with the project?
Since the last update the main focus onsite has been on the replacement of the sewer line that cuts the site in half. Piling did continue and other concrete works in ground followed however this path slowed as all resources were directed to sewer works. The sewer was successfully replaced on October 28th, 2016 and all sheet piling and dewatering was removed as of November 4th, 2016. Piling is at approximately 80% and pile caps are 60% complete. Precast walls have been installed on the northern side of the site up to level 1 and are scheduled for installation on the western side of the site next week. The two lift pits have been poured and blockwork has commenced on the eastern side of the site. The contractor aims to have the first slab formed and poured before Christmas.
What needs to happen to finish this stage of construction?
Once piling and pile caps are completed to 100%, in ground services can be installed and the first slab can be formed up and poured, with the inclusion of structural columns for Level 1 and the structure going up. Once all in ground works are complete our contractor begins the structural cycle that will be repeated level upon level throughout the next six months to erect two towers.
What will happen next?
The ground slab will be poured along with structural columns and the installation of more pre-cast walls. The current estimated completion date for WestEnd is the first quarter of 2018.
